James was a beautiful soul
Another poet whose art touched us
Making us pause to think
Every one of us would stop
Stop and think about our actions
Before your art I was afraid
Little by little I became brave
One day at a time
Wondering if you knew the gift you gave
Selflessly
Greater love is not known
Other voices crowd around
Another day another life
Time will spin out again
Some day we will all be free
Everything we do, each and every day,
All our lives - it has meaning.
Though it's not always obvious,
Many people are watching.
You have to live each day,
As if the whole world sees what you do.
So why don't more people realize this?
So why do we continue to kill people for 'justice'?
Go from this place
Leap from the boughs
Always with a spring in your step
Despite a heavy heart
You are not alone
Only the trees can whisper your name this way
Underneath the light of the Autumn moon
'twixt the dawn and the fall of night
Remembering your sighs
Every moment etched in my mind
Difficult to think now that you're gone
Every thing is different
Anything I can think to say is drowned
Drowned in my regret
How do we go on?
On with our busy days.
On with our busy lives.
Knowing you are no longer here.
Every day is darker.
Dawn comes not as soon.
Onward we battle our demons.
Now one angel less.
Fighting for the freedom of others.
Injustice trampled underfoot.
Strong in the truth.
True to our cause
Injustice giving way to freedom.
Never to be caged again.
Goodbye James.

Unto the arms of death
So that he may carry you
At last to your eternal rest
Not for me do they cry
So often do I think on thee
Always with a smile
Rarely do I forget
As in times past I from time to time would
Now I hold my hand out
Down I tilt my head
Onward I must walk without the wind
Never again will I hear you speak
'twas but a whisper against the backdrop
Sometimes I listen too hard
Always will I stand
Never again will I falter
Understanding is what you brought me
Something for which I can never repay
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid,
you see I took his hand when I heard his call;
I turned my back an left it all.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joys
- A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss...
Oh, yes, these things I, too, will miss
Be no burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee God wanted me now.
He set me free.
My heart goes out to James and his family.
May your soul be free
